My Sisters Daughter

she had her arm around me while I was sleeping (she had crawled into our bed) and looked at me and whispered, ‘you look like Gio when you sleep like that.’

my sisters daughter

I miss Ollie. I miss her sense of humor. It’s so clever.

I miss sitting in her wooden castle with Leo. Just the two of us and the dog. What a sweet dog. His heavy head resting on my thick leg. My bare feet tucked underneath his warm body. His blonde hairs sticking to my sweaty skin.

I miss the way the branches would sway above us. How the leaves would always dance for us.

I love that backyard - my sisters backyard.

I miss it.

I miss my sister… I miss her a lot.

I miss watching her become a mother. Admiring every choice she makes. The way she prepares and works to the bone to try and find some kind of balance - the balance of motherhood and a career.

I can see it. Her strength and endurance.

I see it in Ollie.

I see it sitting in her wooden castle with Leo. Just the two of us and the dog. His heavy head resting on my thick leg. My bare feet tucked underneath his warm body. His blonde hairs sticking to my sweaty skin.

The leaves above me are dancing and I miss my sisters daughter.
